Driving to downtown Durango takes about 25–30 minutes (20 miles). Purgatory Resort is about 1 hour away (43 miles).

Why is there no air conditioning?

The Lodge sits at 8,300 ft elevation. The hottest summer days reach about 85°F with roughly 20% humidity, and nights typically drop to around 50°F — AC simply isn't needed. The average annual temperature is 46°F.

Is there internet and TV?

Yes — Starlink internet, plus smart TVs in the Lodge (Main Room and Family Room) and the Retreat (Living Room). We recommend leaving them off: the lake views are better.

How do we get inside?

You receive a personalized entry code for all exterior doors that works only during your stay. Doors notify the owners on unlock, and 3 failed attempts trigger a 5-minute lockout.

Can we bring our horses?

Yes! The corral holds up to 20 horses, with a main area, a smaller side area, and a staging pen with a tack shed. Local outfitters also offer guided horseback rides.

The Main Lodge has a 5-night minimum, the Retreat a 3-night minimum, and the Hideaway a 2-night minimum. Booking direct saves up to 25% vs online booking sites.

How full is Lemon Lake?

Lemon is a reservoir, about 3 miles long at peak. It typically fills by May–June, then draws down over summer to roughly half size by September.

Can we bring 4-wheelers, kayaks, paddle boards, or canoes?

Can we bring an RV or camper?

Yes, but not in the driveway, and stay off the front lawn (it covers the septic system). Use the 3rd driveway left of the mailboxes and park in the back without blocking the dumpster.

Oven/stove, microwave, and propane BBQ grill, plus a full set of pots, pans, dishes, glassware, and utensils. The Lodge kitchen also has a dishwasher.

What is there to do in winter?

Purgatory Resort (about 1 hour) for skiing and snowboarding, sledding and snowshoeing around the lake, and Durango’s Snowdown festival in late January. The fireplace and bonfire hill work year-round.
